My computer wont detect my built-in web cam on my laptop

it only works 1 in 10 times after I refresh my computer help?

Maybe the driver needs to be updated??

Oh dear. I’m having exactly the same problem. I have a HP Pavilion laptop with a built-in webcam and often it says it cannot locate the webcam and it says ‘Try plugging it in again’. Well I can hardly do that since it’s built in to the machine. There is something I try and it often works. If you tell us what computer model you have then it may help :) -x-

go into Controle panel - harddrive and sounds - device manager - thing will come up sayingg you need permision blah blah click conitune (thats if your on vista - once pressed conintune pop up comes up look for imaging Device and it should be under there and clikc it - than press enable driver if it is alredy enable disebale it and then re enable it then restart

I am having the same problem…Im trying to communicate via skype and it cannot locate my built-in webcam and when I try what shannan09 says..I do not see imaging device anywhere.. HELP please!!

ps- my laprtop is a HP Pavillion dv6000
