Are muskrats a threat to little dogs?

(we are moving into a new house in a couple of days and we were told, there is a fair amount of muskrats around and they come into the ravine that runs along our yard. I have a Chihuahua and a Pug and I am wondering if they pose a threat to them?)

Yes. Muskrats, possums, racoons, etc. can be agresssive and they could hurt your little dog.

Thank you. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a muskrat. I’ll have to do some research on them so I know what to watch for.

For sure, especially if the dogs intrude on their territory (get to close to their habitat) or threaten their food supply. Best to walk them on a leash or keep them inside (house or dog run).

Thanks! They will never be out unspervised but its good to know what trouble they can get in before it happens. I’m a city girl so I not use to muskrats and such. In the city the worst we worry about is skunks.
