Move out at 16

Can I move out at the age 16 and not get bothered by my parents as long as im living in good conditions, able to hold a job and support myself?

Answer #1

If your parents are cool, you got a good stable job, and if you know how to take care of bills, yourself, the house, and if you know how to handle(spend/save) money wisely. Then yesss maybe.

Answer #2

you can, but you’re going to have TONS of money to pay. not to mention, your parents are not going to pay for anything. you’d have to give up tons of luxuries, so unless you have a good job and good resources and are financially and mentally ready, don’t get yourself emancipated. plus in some states, you’re going to have to prove that the environment of your house is so bad, that you need to be emancipated. but good luck anyway, especially in tough economic times like these.

lol have you actually set down and calculate how much it would cost you, expenses, paying bills, going out with your friends?

take it from someone who is living away from their parents…my older brother and I both work and we are both on a low to medium salaries and still need our parents to help us out with paying our rent :) (which they dont mind btw)

not sure where your from, but at 16 your pay cheque would be fairly miminal.. I’m on a junior wage until im 21 and currently my pay isnt very not much per week so how can you survive at 16?

Answer #4

What do you mean get bothered by your parents? We cant tell you whether your parents are going to bother you.

But no, legally you cannot move out with an emancipation. How are you going to get an apartment? You cant legally sign a lease. You cant legally get a phone. You cant turn on the water, get electricity etc without an adult present. How exactly do you plan on doing this by yourself? As for support yourself, how are you going to do that while going to school?
