how does my mouth stop being sore?

ok, i got headgear and a retainer yesterday, and i don’t think my orthodontist fitted it correctly, part of my retainer is cutting the inside of my cheek. And i dont see him until jan 7th. what do i do to stop the pain?

Do you still have the wax they gave you from having braces? You could use that for now since the wax is meant to stop cuts on the inside of your mouth.

If you don’t have any of that I recommend just wearing your retainer while you sleep and putting it on at least an hour before you go to bed. Your teeth won’t get realigned so don’t sweat it too much, this should work till you get to see him in January.

I think you can also buy some wax from a pharmacy so I recommend you do some looking too.

get a little piece of wax and push it onto the part of the retainer that’s cutting… if you don’t have any wax, they sell it at pretty much any drug store

as for the pain, pick up some Advil or Motrin, but make sure that you’re not allergic to any of the indregients before you take anything. But it’s always a safe bet to ask your doctor what they would recommend for you personally.
