Mother forcing me to take huge vitamins.

I do not believe in vitamins, I think people just sell them to make money. When I was younger I took kid vitamins, did they work? No. I was constantly sick and ill, I didn’t see any improvement in my health. Now my mother wants me to take these huge pills saying they will Make me healthier and all this other crap too. I won’t take them, I refuse to. First of all they’re huge, I already have problems Swallowing and I can’t imagine trying. Second of all I just don’t want to, I honestly think they don’t work. To sum it up, how can I tell my mom nicely I don’t want these vitamins..

Personally, vitamins work for me. But I’m around children a lot and don’t always eat a great diet either. I can tell when I haven’t had mine. Many girls have low iron and need supplements. If you’re sexually active you could get pregnant and really need to make sure you take 400mcg of Folic Acid just in case you get pregnant. Maybe you could consider compromising with your mom by just taking a regular, good multi-vitamin if you promise to be careful about your diet and exercise. The thing is that even one day of bad nutrition could be bad for health so vitamins are important. Were lucky to live in a time when you have so good health care and diets. You’re also lucky to have a mom who cares. Maybe she has concerns about your diet. You should definetly talk to her. I’m in my 20s. When I was a teenager I thought everything my parents did was to “get” me, now I realize that they only wanted what was best for me.

To be healthy you need to eat a good diet. If you eat a good varied diet with lots of whole grains, fruits, and veggies you won’t need to take vitamins. If you have a lousy diet no pill in the world will make up for this.

Answer #3

Ok well first of all vitamins are not a con… if they were they wouldnt be approved by the FDA. So that argument is probably not going to work with your mother. In addition, vitamins are not magic pills that prevent illnesses… They help with a lot of different things, you cannot necessarily see the effects, but they are not pointless. However, if you eat a balanced diet then additional vitamins are not necessarily going to help any more… And I can sympathize with the not wanting to take a huge pill everyday (I have issues swallowing too). I can think of two things you could do. Agree to take vitamins, but make her get you the chewable kind… or agree to eat additional fruits and vegetables in replacement of the vitamin…

Tell your mom that you’ll eat more fruit and vegetables.

Answer #5

Well you can just tell her how you feel and say ‘ Mom, I really dont like to take these because I dont believe they work’ and say it nicely. :) But she is your mom and she cares about you and you health and that should make you feel good my mom never cared enough to make me take a vitamin regardless if they work or not.
