Most bigoted or racist democrat in office today?

I am going with Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia. Byrd is President pro tempore of the United States Senate of the 110th United States Congress, a position that puts him third in line of presidential succession, behind Vice President Dick Cheney and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He spent his early years as a member of the KKK, filibustered for 14 hours against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and he is the only Senator to have voted against the nominations of both Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas to the United States Supreme Court. He now states that he regrets his time in the KKK and his vote against the Civil Rights Act but continued to use the N-word until 2001 when he apologized saying it was a word from his youth. He supports Obama for President.

I wasn’t thinking of Byrd, only because he admits his past, and renownces it. I did not know that he used the n-word that recently.

Yes, I was surprised by that one. I thought he had also “cleaned” up his act. Except for his support of Obama, he still seems to vote against African-American appointments.

I don’t know about racists but Rep. Monique Davis (D-IL) is definitely a bigot. She recently screamed at an atheist who was testifying at a hearing, telling him that he didn’t have the right to be there and speak. According to Davis, we atheists are “dangerous” and we shouldn’t have the rights afforded to other citizens.

She eventually apologized for her outburst but she never retracted her remarks. Very telling…
