Do you keep your money in a debit/checking account or do you keep cash on you, which do you prefer?

I am horrible with debit cards and always manage to go over and spend too much so weve always just kept cash. However since our home was broken into its not exactly safe to have cash laying around in our home so im having to use our bank now.

Answer #1

I keep, all my money in the bank, this is funny, but I don’t even have a check book anymore.

Answer #2

Well my mom has a debit card but I keep my money in a box….spend some, save some =)

Answer #3

I am sure you would not keep thousands of dollars in a box on your desk, LOL.

Answer #4

I prefer cash. I always seem to mess up with banks. With cash, you got what you got and there is never any confusion or mistakes.

Answer #11

I prefer cash, but did finally get checking account because I got tired of getting money orders to pay a lot of the bills with. Its a bad idea to mail cash, and the gas company here prefers checks or money orders :P.

But I normally cash my check, withdrawing enough for 1/2 my bills and some spending money for that 1/2 of the month. Then come the end of month I put all my money for my bills into my checking account and write off all the checks for my bills and house payment. I know its a little roundabout way of doing it, and probably easier to just leave my money for my bills in my checking account because it goes back there anyway, but if its locked up at home out, i know I wont accidentally spend any of it.

But if I had my way I would pay for everything with cash. I only have X amount of cash in my wallet - onces its gone I can’t spend any more. With my debit card its easy to get myself in trouble. :P.

Answer #12

Hahaha o.k =)

Answer #13

I prefer to keep my money in a bank account. I have a savings account for students and can’t go over my limit of spending. I suggest looking for the bank which is going to give you the best interest and then asking them to reduce your daily spending limit, so you really have to plan ahead before you can spend. I spend to much when I have cash on me.

Answer #14

I’ve a card in whcih I get payed with instead of a bank account. It’s on me all the time, it’s kind of like a debit card.
