Why does my Mini Horse change colors?

In the Winter, he is white with very dark gray spots, in the summer, he’s white with light brown spots, and sometime in between, he’s solid white?

Answer #1

Oh, I forgot, sometimes he’s white with light gray spots, also.

Answer #2

maybe he thinks hes that horse from the wizard of oz, the one that kept changeing colors :O. but umm, i think some animals do change fur color. like some wolves are lighter in winter to match, and in the summer they get darker. so idk if horses do the same but it seems like it

Answer #3

does his coat color change with season? if so a horses coat color changes when he grows his winter coat and then when he sheds out again changes again. especialy colorful little mini’s

example- in winter my bay horse turns VERRRY red and when he sheds out his color becomes more defined, his dark points (nose, legs, ears) become noticable.

what colors does it change? :)

Answer #4

Solid white. White with dark gray spots. White with light gray spots. White with light brown spots. lol.

Answer #5

haha….wowzy…..well it is most common for the whites and greys to do this ALL the time. darker ones do it to but it is much less noticeable. but due to the light color of your horse what you are seeing is just it shedding off and growing new hair, (the new hair being a slightly or very different color or shade)happens in all horses some are just more noticable……..does that make any sense at all??? lol :)

Answer #6

Yes. It makes alot of sense.(: Thank you :D
