Menstrual advice

I am 18 and have always had 7 day periods. But for the past two months they have lasted longer and gotten extremely heavy when they should have stopped. For example this month I thought my period was going away but the day it should have stopped I started bleeding heavy and passing huge clots. I have to change pads about every two hours. I went to the doctor after it happened last month and she put me on birth control but it hasn’t had time to really start working yet. I also talked to the gyn. on call last night and she told me to take 4 birth control pills a day until it stopped or slowed down. It doesn’t really seem to be helping though. Any ideas on what I can do to reduce the bleeding or clotting or what may be causing this?

You need to go to your gynecologist for a check up…it can be a lot of things including something called endometriosis which could explain why your periods are so long and why it is getting worse everytime.

But really go to your doctor…I suggest finding a new one, the current one you have don’t seem to be of much use.
