Mary came to the emergency room at the insistence of her husband.

She was complaining of heartburn and shortness of breath. The physician told her that her troponin was elevated and there were changes on her ECG that indicated she had experienced a myocardial infarction. Her response was “This can’t be. I did not have crushing chest pain or pain radiating down my arm. Are you sure?” Explain why her signs and symptoms are not what are considered classic symptoms.

Is this a doctor or nursing examination question? If so, I pray you don’t operate on me!
