How long does it take to train a puppy?

Because you have to be persistent. Teach them CONSTANTLY. It’s really not hard at all, especially if you start young. And use treats.. (I buy the dry milk bones or beggin strips and break them up in little pieces) How old is your puppy? Make sure you take her/him outside regularly, and stay out there with them. Wait until they go to the bathroom, and once they do, praise the crud out of them. Eventually, they think ‘’Hm… so… when I do this, out here, they’re very nice…okay, I get it’’. :P It wouldn’t hurt to start teaching her/him tricks right now either.. stay and sit, etc. Chewing is just because your puppy is teething. Get some bones, or chew toys. Hiding might be because she/he’s scared… please please don’t discipline her/him physically… puppies understand when you are angry with them. They don’t need to be spanked, they’re too young! Just be patient with her/him (I feel guilty calling him/her a her if it’s a boy lol)

LOL, I know what i should be doing, just wondered how long it takes them to grasp the concept. Mine is 8-12 weeks i would guess. we do the treat thing, and I would never hit or physically harm an animal or child. Maybe my old man once in a hile…lol joking, anyways, I just was wondering if it takes weeks or months, I am due to have a baby in 4 weeks and do dearly hope she is potty trained by then.

I just love puppies, mine just died so I’m still a little weird :) Guys deserve it though :P It shouldn’t take very long, like I said if you’re persistent. My puppy was grasping the concept after a couple of weeks.. He was learning. I would have your kids help you with it, too.. Congratulations, by the way.

Depends on how much you train him and how consistint u use the comands and how much the dog really cares to listen.

it all depends on the puppies age becaause that determines his mental stablity. generally it takes 32-35 days for a puppy to learn a trick if the owner is persistent enough. trainging should only be fifteen minutes for very young puppies who have a shorter attenetion span. if you dont make training fun the pup will become bored and just tune you out. make training fun, add a little play time in between sessions or treats so you can keep the puppy interested. walking also helps because a hyper puppy is harder to train.
