They finally realized that science is usually right about these things. Remember the jailed Gallileo for daring to say that the earth was not the center of the universe. The only ones who deny evolution and such are certain extreme christian faiths that believe in the literal bible. They make up stuff to try and debunk the science, yet do not ever question their own claims. How anyone in the mordern world could accept an ancient text written by superstitious men as an absolutely accurate historical document is beyond me.

Genesis is a historical account, adam and eve have to be literal otherwise there is no original sin no need for an saviour the whole religion collapses.
