Was there life before Adam and Eve?

I believe there was life before adam and eve. if you look at the first and second chapters of genesis, there are major differences if it were talking about one set of life - adam and eve. I will outline: genesis chapter 1, God creates plants and animals before he creates man. in chapter 2, God creates man before he creates plants and animals. chapter 1, God’s command to man and woman was to multiply and be masters over all life, to subdue the earth. and he also says he has given them ALL the fruit trees to eat. now in chapter 2, God’s command to man was to tend the garden, not to multiply and subdue the earth. aslo the tree of knowledge of good and evil was forbidden. there are too many differences to me to be talking about adam and eve both times.

Of course there was life before Adam and Eve, there was other life here when Adam and Eve were here too. think about this, Adam and Eve had sons, those sons took wives, if the bible is correct and Gods children were the only ones on earth, where did the get wives from? Answer, the people that were here already.

Hi, I am not sure which Bible translation you are reading from, but the KJV, NIV, NASB all state the following in Gen. 1:28 “ God blessed them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Note the word “replenish” does not exist, so it seems you have been reading a bad translation of God’s word, which in turn as sent you down a false path. This is why it is sooo important you read an “approved” acturate translation based on the original manuscripts. Hope this helps! Blessings

You are right!! Another example that there were others here be fore Adam and Eve, is when Cane told God that someone might kill him, and God put his mark on Cane so they would not kill him. Yes the bible does say that adam and eve should replenish it. It does not imply that the creatures before them were human. What I believe is that deamons were here on earth before humans. Most prople think that fallen angles are humans, but thats wrong. If you do some research deamons and fallen angles are to different thing. There are actually ancient summarian texts that talk about angles and deamons before the creation.

I suppose it is all up for debate but the bible states in chapter 1 that god created man in his age, male and female both. Chapter 2 states that he then created Adam and shortly after made Eve from his rib. Going on that it would seem to me that there were other humans, but the focus was on Adam and Eve because Adam was created to name the animals and may have been a “leader” and Eve was his suitable mate and was important due to her role and Adam’s role in humans being expelled grim the garden. I’m not a biblical genius by any means but it would make sense and explain the other women etc.

Yes there was life before Adam and Eve. Klight20, you hit it on the nail by saying there are too many differences. Genesis 1:27 proves this too us. Some have said that it was a mistake that God made and that he destroyed the early humans. First of all God doesn’t make mistakes. Sin is what makes mistakes. And if God can kill off everyone on the face of the earth by a big flood in Gen 7:21, then why cant we suppose that this happened before Adam and Eve. This is implied in Gen 1:2 “Now the earth was formless and empty, Darkness was over the surface of the DEEP..” In the age of the bible the DEEP was referred to as the ocean. Hence Lucifer’s flood.

No where is it stated how many years are between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:3.

Gods religion guide us. More important is life after death. While we are strong here in this world, talk you heart out. When we die we cant lift a finger. Those who believe in God has reasons to do so. But those who are not interested why bother yourself.

I also question this account. There is also another verse that causes questions as to the traditional story of Adam and Eve, Genesis 1:2 says: “Now the earth WAS formless and empty . . .” almost all translations state the word WAS could be translated BECAME. If this is correct it would mean that there was a world THEN it became void. This to me would mean that Adam and Eve were created Later and apart from God’s earlier creations. This could explain the Nephilim in 6:4, the existence of people in the land of Nod. This would also account for the existance of life that carbon dating states as many years earlier than dating from Adam to today, such as the dinanasours dtc.

Okay, first off, that is not a contradiction, it’s just that you’re reading too much into it. And in the whole scheme of things, this detail is not important. Adam and Eve were the first people on earth. Period.

Perhaps if we were to consider Adam & Eve as being the first true Homo Sapiens to walk the Earth, then the 6000 year theory could have some credence.

Also if we were to believe in a oscillating universe when there were many Big Bangs, going back in time to infinity, then this could explain what God was doing before He created Heaven and Earth.

I think their has been and are other worlds.. I mean the Universe is HUGE and never ends, so of course there has been life before us. Life is a never ending cycle.

I believe in the Bible of course. Enoch is described as the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah (Gen: 5:22-29). The time ascribed to Adam and Eve is only around 6000 years ago, while science tells us that modern humans were around 200,000 years ago, and that our earliest hominid ancestors lived about seven million years ago.Gen: 4 makes it clear that Cain went to build a CITY. For whom? The land of Nod is mentioned. But, Enoch’s writings were in Aramaic and go deep into the things we do not want to look at. no. Adam and Eve were the very first humans created there was LAND outside of the garden of eaden. I mean that’s all I can think of… ? but that’s about it.

In the beginning God created ALL the races. They were all a disapointment to God. So to offer a chance for repentence, God created another “race” of people-the decendants of adam and eve- to keep once race pure to bring Jesus to earth at a future time. The bible is a story of satan trying to poison that race, and failing at every attempt, as Jesus was born.

Its NOT reading to much into the bible, Its a case of God reveiling his mysteries at the proper times.
