Lip Piercing Infected, Or..?

I got my lip pierced on August 8th. I really love it, but on the outside, there is like.. This reddish circle around where the jewelery comes out. Kind of looks like.. Skin too, I guess? On the inside, it seems like the skin is trying to grow over the piercing. Why is it like this?

Answer #1

I just recently got my lip pierced again for the 3rd time, the white stuff was there every time. It’s normal, don’t worry. Now, if you lip starts to swell and turn yellow, you should go to the doctor and get treatment. but just keep it CLEAN.

Answer #2

your skin is not trying to grow over it and it is absoloutly not trying to reject it…it is trying to heal I have one and it did the same thing clean it with a sea salt solution!!!

Answer #4

ok I just got my lip pierced a few days ago and I have some bumps forming around it they seem to be itchy and they kinda look like blisters but smaller is this something that I should be worried about because it looks gross

Answer #5

Your body is rejecting the piercing is the skin is trying to grow over the piercing. You need to see a doctor right away. That can leave a serious scar and do damage.

hahah oh my gosh dont listen to the other person here they obviously dont know what they are talking about. dont worry that is a tottally normal part of the healing process just make sure you are cleaning it with antibacterial soap on the outside and sea salt and water on the inside, dont worry its fine. and lip is growing over it it just feels like it because your piercing is just trying to find a place to lie at.

its normal its called pocketing. . i had the same problem and went to my local piercers. they said its becase the bar/post was too short so it didnt allow proper swelling. dont worry i got the red sore looking circle too at the front, i dont think its an infection just keep cleaning it in luke warm salt water and if your using mouth wash stop or add water to it to make it more mild as mouth wash can irritate it. at the moment i got a longer bar put in and the pocket inside my mouth still is so big that the disc of this new bar can slide in. all you can do is keep pushing it back by pushing the ball but make sure your hands are clean or was it off with salt water straight after. the biggest problem i find is you cant keep pushing it when your asleep.. cuz well ur asleep lol so im trying to be cunning and using put a plaster over the front over the ball to keep the back inside pushed away from the pocket as much as possible so that the pocket can heal and disapear. i dont advise you try plasters.. i mean you can if you want but just dont stretch it across too tight. i tried it last time and the pocket has healed abit its harder for the disc to slide it cant go all the way inside the disapearing bottomless of it lol, but you need a good plaster, preferably waterproof, and breatheable.. or your skin gonna look all wrinkly when you wake up .lol . hope my answer is of some help and not just long winded!! lol
