What is the life expectancy of a 77 year old with leukemia?

Answer #1

It depends on the type of leukaemia and how long they have had it, together with other factors including gender, general health and treatment. . WITHOUT leukaemia, male life expectancy at age 77 is only about 8 to 9 years, compared to female life expectancy of 10 to 11 years. . Life expectancy in younger people who have been diagnosed with leukaemia can be up to around 20 years, with the less aggressive (chronic) forms such as chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and chronic myelogenous leukaemia. . However the more aggressive (acute) forms e.g. acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and acute myelogenous leukaemia typically have a life expectancy under 3 years. . Within the limits of the sparse information you provide I am sad to say that a realistic life expectancy is likely to be only about 3 years. .
