Should marijuana be legalized and is it bad for you?

Should marijuana be legalized and do you think it is bad for you?

Answer #1

No legal, yes bad…

Consider:

Risk-taking behavior and injury are especially common during adolescence and young adulthood. Drug use contributes to injuries among adolescents and young adults because it has negative effects on perception, judgment, and reaction time. A young person under the influence of drugs also has less respect for the welfare of self and others.

First of all any of you that have friends that are messed up and you think it’s from smoking marijuana occassionally, your wrong. I bet you a million bucks that if they are messed up they are doing other drugs like oxycontins, cocaine or any of the hard manufactured stuff. I have been smoking for 8 years, I am currently 24 years old. I have a full time job I love, bought my first house at 21 and in 6 months will be the Grand Opening of my tanning salon. I don’t do any drugs, I consider marijuana a herb, which it is; look it up. I have a bunch of friends who smoke. The ones I’m close with only smoke pot and the ones that do other drugs, well you can just tell there is something wrong with them. My dad has been smoking pot since he was a teenager and I only found out recently. If it really messed people up I would have seen it in him. I believe if it were legalized (with restrictions of course) it would fix the economy in less than 6 months and I bet you’d see a lot less road rage, LOL! How many reports do you read about accidents caused under the influence of pot? I haven’t found any. Now how about alcohol? Alcohol is way more dangerous than pot. Now pot does have some dangers, lets face it, you’re inhaling smoke. But the difference between the two are, Nicotene is harmful and addictive; THC is natural, helpful and not addictive. I am living proof. I can stop any time and I have. Sometimes I can not get any for a few weeks but I don’t mind because it gives me an opportunity to save some money. I don’t go through withdrawals like people do on other drugs. So believe me when I say if your looking at someone tweaking it isn’t from pot, they are on something else! Pot is legal in Amsterdam and if you do a little research you will find that they are relaxed, peaceful people that enjoy their lifestyle. Alcohol isn’t even popular there!

Answer #3

of course it should be legalized…its good for you, better than alcohol and cigarettes. the way I see it, ganja helps you see life the way it really is…you reveal into your innerself ( said by bob marley )..so why does alcohol get to be legal when it actually makes people do supid mistakes when ganja just makes people relaxed happy?…I’ve been smoking for 3 years and I am happy to say I have changed…because it actually helps you change ( if you use it the right way)…and its for the best really..

Answer #4

I don’t think marijuana itself is bad for you, butt people take advantages of it &+ that’s bad. I think it should be legal though b/c it comes from the earth. buttt idunno

Answer #5

Well cigarettes and alcohol are legal, and they pose just as much of a physical threat (if not more) to your body. I say ban cigarettes and legalise marijuana, more people are killed by cigarette related diseases every year than car accidents…but they’re still legal.

Answer #6

no I dont think it should be legalized and no its not good for you.. and for those of you who do it and want it legalized what would it matter you do it now anyways why do you have to make it easier for us non corrupted people to get it. if your happy smoking it well good for you let the rest of us live in peacee!

Answer #7

I definitely don’t think it’s good for you but I see no reason for it to be illegal. Unless someone can point me to the info, I haven’t found it to be a major cause of violence or crime.

Answer #8

YES I love that question. it should be legal I love it its great and I had to do a project on it, 12 - 17 age, smoke or have tried it, 97% of them are still using it

Answer #9

marijuana should definitely be legal, because alcohol and cigarettes are just as bad if not WORSE because they are addtictive, but we still allow those.

Answer #10

yes and yes, I do believe that mariujana should be legalized first of all it’s actually a great pain suppresent, If it was legalized it could be taxed very highly which would probably help out our economy in the end, since people are doing it anyway. Oh and alcohol is a lot more harmfull than good old mary jane. Also alcohol is addictive, not just because of how it feels, but because of what is put in it. While marijuana is only addictive because of how it makes people feel.

Answer #11

^^ Alcohol isn’t addictive - sure, people can become ‘addicted’ to it, but its not because of the alcohol itself, its other things. Taken in moderation/sensible amounts, there’s no real harm in alcohol - its bad reputation mostly comes from people abusing it. Cigarettes on the other hand are addictive, its the nature of their ingredients, and they do real damage to you. And I have friends who are really messed up from smoking marijuana on a semi-regular basis, and science says it can have some bad long term effects, so yes, I have to say I do think its bad for you.

In my opinion, marijuana should be kept as being illegal - but I’d like to see cigarettes made illegal too. Alcohol is fine, but there should be more education about sensible drinking.

Answer #12

I think it should be legal. My dad has RSD and if marijuana was legal it could help take away some of the pain. Plus cigarettes and alcohol are legal why not marijuana ?I mean alcohol cause many deaths a year in car accedents alone. And cigs causes lung cancer. And there legal.

Answer #13

First, danbob, you are biased because you are an alcoholic. If you really think alcohol is so much better than marijuana then point out one case of marijuana poisoning. After that look up alcohol poisoning statistics. You can sensibly use any substance, but no matter what, people will abuse it. So, if liquor is legal, then so should marijuana. They are all bad for your health, they all are addictive, and they all will change behavior in a person. Next, jesusbaby, you are not a logical creature. Don’t worry, most christians aren’t when it comes to morals. They seem to just have faith in what they think is right even though it contradicts other things. If you are really non-corrupt, then you won’t bother using it when it’s legal. So what does it matter to you? Our kids? Well, don’t give it to your kids. I bet they can get some right now while being illegal. Violent crime maybe? Who are you more afraid of, a drunk or a pothead? I do believe it affects memory and slows you down in earlier years of use. So, really, why do you care if my memory is faulty? What really gives another person a right to tell me which poisons I can take? It would be smarter and more logical to ban them all. Although, I guess a pothead is just too stupid to see this. Maybe because it’s a gateway drug. Again, why is alcohol around. Some people think the typical smoker is someone who sits around the house and does nothing. Really, they don’t know who the typical smoker is because that typical person don’t tell the whole world. The typical smoker worries about losing his job, or being pulled over while getting his goods. The typical smoker is that guy you see at 6 a.m packing his golf clubs or walking the dog. Someone you know and love probably uses marijuana. Even though this person does so at his/her own free will, you still want illegalize it. You are pre-disposed to your beliefs and need to take a step back and look at the situation from the sidelines. Jesusbaby made a good point, we will still use it. The penalties have actually decreased somewhat, so why should we quit? Simply, because the majority says so. We are the minority. A bunch of potsmoking, liquor drinking, we are. This is really sad that it even has to be debated for a medicinal purpose. Xanax, Xanax, Xanax, symptoms include, the urge to smoke crack, or the urge to steel. Keep all liquor products out of the reach of people on Xanax. Can’t prescribe weed, but if you tell the doctor you have nerve or anxiety problems, you can get some xanax. I’m losing faith in the common sense of Americans over this issue. How can a dumb pothead like me be the only one to see it? Maybe I’m not all that dumb. I seen some posts on this subject and thought a lot of the potheads did not communicate their message well. I took that under consideration until I seen the way some of the people write who are for keeping marijuana illegal. My conclusion to that is both sides have their share of idiots. It will not be legal any time soon, for recreation use at least. I do feel obligated as an American to speak out against these infringements of our rights. We have a right to fairness and right now it is not fair.

Answer #14

Marijuana has been illegal for a reason if it’s legalized, so many stupid people are just going to abuse the privilege and they already do so yeaaa

Answer #15

Answer #16

Answer #17

no, I don’t think we should legalize it. allot of really non-legit people would go out of buisness. hah

and no it’s not bad for you

Answer #18

Marijuana is both emotionally and mentally addictive. Once an individual becomes addicted to marijuana it develops into part of who they believe themselves to be. Avoiding their friends who do not use, the addict will gravitate to others that do. Marijuana is a topic that is always on their mind, whether it be thinking about the next time they will be able to get high or where their going to get their next sack. When someone is addicted to marijuana eventually their friends and the people close to them only know how they act when their stoned because they no longer do anything without first smoking. Their constant abuse is due to the misconception that marijuana is what they need to solve their problems. Sometimes addicts will take their stash with them wherever they go, just in case an opportunity arises and they are able to take a couple hits. They may even go through several dealers in order to make sure they always have a constant supply of marijuana - For assistance Call 1-800-405-8409: http://WWW.marijuanaaddiction.info/

Answer #19

yes it should because then they can have rules on it or w.e

Answer #20

no its not bad for u, and yes it should be legalized its good for your wellbeing and helps regulate everything in your body

These are some of the comments I have copied from a forum

-pharmaceuticals are known to kill more people than illegal drugs

-marijuana is the number 1 cash crop in the world it serves as a natural medicine and has many other uses thats why they prohibited it so big companies can make more profit thanks to “bad journalism”

-can also help aids patients, aids diminishes appetite have them smoke a joint and they regain their appetite counteracting the illness

-no one can die from smoking cannabis and has been no known deaths compared to everything else including alcohol, tobacco, etc..

I myself have asthma and smoking opens up my airways making it easier to breathe with no side effects when medically legalized in my state I look foward to becoming a patient for prescription marijuana. 12 states have already legalized it along with other countries in the world and more following my job is to educate people that are not aware of the plants uses

re-legalize!

-I did most of my research through websites, books, magazines, and the news norml.org high times magazine etc..

  • theres more to it than just getting high and I believe legalizing it would make this a better world to live in

-God bless the whole crop!

  • and for people that dont smoke, you dont need to smoke it to support it

-all the better reason for the government to legalize.. couple reasons why it should be legalized: -will be removed from black market and stop empowering gang members -medical reasons -would be sold like alcohol, remember alcohol was once prohibited too (in stores away from children, have to be 21+) -would be a law that you cant drive while intoxicated on weed -prison population would lower (prisons are overcrowding with nonviolent offenders) -keep patients from being convicted -would provide millions of jobs for people -would make us an independent country (fuel, etc.., debt free america)

people with an addiction (including hard drugs) shouldnt be thrown in jail, they need help theres more people in jail with mental illnesses than there are in mental institutions

the list goes on

  • the War on Drugs is a failure, its a war on its own people. policies need to be changed we pay billions in taxpayers money to keep the war going and neither side is winning thats just a waste of our tax money I wonder what they do with all that money.. those greedy bastards just sell drugs back onto the street, you can even check urself on that there was a time when there was a cia operation transporting drugs overseas into america the government also provided Rick Ross with plenty of heroin to go around, course making money from it

the truth must be exposed, theyre dirty work must stop!

-Of course we can do something about it, we all just need to unite screw the federal government remember slavery? if no one stood up im pretty sure it would still be going on people were tortured, beaten, killed and thrown in jail but that didnt stop them standing up for their rights eventually slavery was abolished same with alcohol prohibition eventually became re-legalized

  • its like theres some kind of conspiracy going on I sense the government is up to no good and trying to control us. credit cards, money, and now they have chips that can be implanted in skin for uselful reasons but if in the wrong hands well were pretty much fuct they hiding the truth from us its dangerous to be right when the government is wrong they got theyre privacy but we dont. they want to know everything were doing on our leisure time

get up stand up!

  • marijuanas not anti-establishment because its illegal, its illegal because its anti-establishment

all facts stated have been double-checked and confirmed what more info? norml.org hightimes.com americandrugwar.org flexyourrights.org lets all make this a better place to live in!
