Learning Mathematics is really of no use!

How many of you think mathematics is really useful for our life? I dont think so. Itz just for wasting time in school. I solve the problems in mathematics and get the answer. But what the hell do we get for our life? How many of you agree with me?

learn the basics and you’ll do fine learn advanced and you’ll do great

Though I have to admit, sometimes the math I see is useless, sometimes my teacher agrees with me as well!

But really, think how easier it’s going to be for you if you have the basics down

I hated maths. Still hate it actually. But without a maths qualification no employer will take you seriously. You will probably need it in your future at some point but in a different context to what your experiencing now.

Basic maths is important. And some jobs do require more advanced skills. But unless you want to be a maths teacher I agree that a lot of it is pretty useless in real life.

Sorry, I dont agree, I did psychology in my undergrad, and the people who couldnt do math were not happy in the stats classes… and we needed the class to get our degree…

I can agree but that was when I didn’t like school. Without Math,you won’t be able to solve certain problems in the real world,like it or not but without it you can’t do a lot of things. Life basically runs around Math,if you know what I mean you won’t give up.

Math is useful to some people. I think that 2+2 is something we need to know, as well as 5x5, but I don’t think that geometry or algebra II has anything to do with the average person’s life.

I don’t agree…mostly…filletofspam is correct it depends on your career path…

I study accounting and if it weren’t for maths I would probably be struggling my butt off right now…also one of the uses for it is that it opens up a lot of opportunities…most of the courses in a normal university require that you had math in school.

I’d at least say the basic math…and solving equations should be a necessity…it really becomes useful.

It depends on your career path. Schools teach a wide variety of subjects because they want students to have as many options as possible.

In my case I found myself wanting for math skills later. I was good at science and math as a lad; always my best and easiest subjects. I decided that I wanted to become a musician so I pushed all that aside. Then ten years later I started studying computer science and the math kicked my butt. What was once a strength was now a deficiency.
