Learning Mathematics is really of no use!

How many of you think mathematics is really useful for our life? I dont think so. Itz just for wasting time in school. I solve the problems in mathematics and get the answer. But what the hell do we get for our life? How many of you agree with me?

Answer #1

learn the basics and you’ll do fine learn advanced and you’ll do great

Though I have to admit, sometimes the math I see is useless, sometimes my teacher agrees with me as well!

But really, think how easier it’s going to be for you if you have the basics down

Answer #2

I hated maths. Still hate it actually. But without a maths qualification no employer will take you seriously. You will probably need it in your future at some point but in a different context to what your experiencing now.

Answer #3

Basic maths is important. And some jobs do require more advanced skills. But unless you want to be a maths teacher I agree that a lot of it is pretty useless in real life.

Answer #4

Sorry, I dont agree, I did psychology in my undergrad, and the people who couldnt do math were not happy in the stats classes… and we needed the class to get our degree…

Answer #5

I can agree but that was when I didn’t like school. Without Math, you won’t be able to solve certain problems in the real world, like it or not but without it you can’t do a lot of things. Life basically runs around Math,if you know what I mean you won’t give up.

Answer #6

Math is useful to some people. I think that 2+2 is something we need to know, as well as 5x5, but I don’t think that geometry or algebra II has anything to do with the average person’s life.

Answer #7

I don’t agree…mostly…filletofspam is correct it depends on your career path…

I study accounting and if it weren’t for maths I would probably be struggling my butt off right now…also one of the uses for it is that it opens up a lot of opportunities…most of the courses in a normal university require that you had math in school.

I’d at least say the basic math…and solving equations should be a necessity…it really becomes useful.

Answer #8

It depends on your career path. Schools teach a wide variety of subjects because they want students to have as many options as possible.

In my case I found myself wanting for math skills later. I was good at science and math as a lad; always my best and easiest subjects. I decided that I wanted to become a musician so I pushed all that aside. Then ten years later I started studying computer science and the math kicked my butt. What was once a strength was now a deficiency.
