I have to give my coursework tomorrow!!

what are the advantages and disadvantages of having a single legal profession? should the profession of solicitors and barristers be fused into one?

Since many countries don’t operate with a distinction between the two, you might not get so many answers.

But that in itself also points up one possible answer: other countries function just fine without separate categories for solictors and barristers.

It could also mean that ALL members of the legal profession are forced to be both more practical (solictor-like) as well as having courtroom expertise (like barristers).

As to the negative, I’m afraid all that I can think of are the vested interests of the existing professions - that no one wants to rock the boat.
