Lapatop hook up to TV

I have a Dell lap top and it has USB ports on the back of it. I want to hook it up to my tv to watch online movies, but I am not sure what type of cable I need. I already have a APEX DVD player that plays my DVD’s and I have Time Warner Cable. I also have a modulator that was used to hook my DVD player on my old tv, but I did not have to use it for the player with my cable. Can any one advise me?

You are going to need a sound card that outputs video and sound. The typical way this is done on desktops it with an s-video jack, and the red//white audio cables. I’m not real sure how you could do it with a laptop, since it’s harder to upgrade cards.

Look to see if it has an s-video output. If you don’t know what they look like, check the backs of your TV’s, they are usually labelled.
