Im a Jr. in high school and am looking to be either some kind of teen counselor, or a marriage counselor. What kind of schooling do I need to take in Collage?
To become a counselor you need a master's degree. What you take for your bachelor's does not really matter. My friend got her bachelor's in religion before getting her master's. Most of the people in my master's class were not psychology majors. Having said that, it is helpful to have a background in psychology. I had somewhat of an advantage over many of my classmates simply because I had already learned some of the material. I would suggest that if your school allows it, take some of the master's level courses in counseling (the basic courses). It will simply save you some money when you get into the master's program.
When you get to college, your counselor will tell you the classes you need to take to become one. Obviously, psychology classes for sure.
Sure. Lemme know if you have any more questions.
Thank you :)
