What kind of fresh water fish would be best to house in a small bowl?

I’ve been thinking about getting a fish for a while. I already have a small bowl. What kind of fish should I get that’s easy and still cute? Thanks in advance!

Answer #1

Betta. Beautiful but very tough and easy to care for. And sometimes they can live longer than alot of fish I know :)

Answer #2

Hmm…I’ve already had a betta and I loved him, but what other kinds would you suggest?

Answer #3

Beta r a good idea, just don’t put 2 of them together, they will fight till the end

Answer #4

Well, in that case I’m not sure since those and goldfish are mostly all I’ve ever had really… Bettas are my favorite :) I would do some research about the characteristics you’re looking for in a fish.

Answer #5

Okay, thanks. :)

Answer #6

The problem with fish in a bowl is lack of circulating water (i. e. a pump & filter).

In a stagnant environment they usually do not do well for long.

Answer #7

Bettas are really the only fish that can thrive in a small fish bowl. Bettas can breath air so it isn’t necessary to aerate. Also, since bettas are not very active they don’t eat much and they don’t poop much so small fish bowls stay clean longer. Goldfish should be in a larger bowl or an aquarium with aeration and filtration. When people put goldfish in small fishbowls they don’t live long which to a lot of people isn’t a problem since they are cheap. I get attached to my fish and hate to see them pass regardless of their price.

A fighter. Used to keep them in 500ml jars.
