Keeping the horses warm

What’s a good way to make sure my horses stay warm over winter?! I’ve got blankets, sleazys, and I guess polo wraps for when in gets colder. But right now I’m so confused as to if I should put their blankets on over night or not.. I think its cold enough. But not a lot if other people at my barn have been. But any ways, any ideas?! Thanks.

I live in Montana, where it gets VERY cold in the winter…I’ve never blanketed them as Mother Nature has given them an undercoat as well as the long hair on the outside. When it gets really cold, that long hair stands out and a layer of warm air is trapped between the layer of long and downy undercoat.

I provide shelter from the wind…and lots of hay (burning calories keeps them warm, also)…LOTS of fresh warm water…too.
