Keeping my five year old entertained at home while he's sick

My older son is about five and a half - he has been sick for a few weeks, and after going to the doctor on Monday, he was given a prescription for zithromax, a type of antibiotic. He’s never had an allergic reaction to any other medication, however, he’s had a hive like reaction to this, now he’s taking claritin, and a new antibiotic, as well an an inhaler for shortness of breath. He had a cough as well as a runny nose & fever, and some congestion.

Do you have any ideas on keeping him happy & entertained? I work at home as does my wife, and it’s been very hard the last few days with him at home full time, instead of at day care.

The poor thing is probably bored out of his mind. Because he’s sick I would suggest activities that don’t require alot of movement.
Some activities you could try: –Borrowing a couple of his favorite movies or shows from your local library.

–Get a coloring station for him to draw and paint.

You could have him draw you a few characters out of the movie he just watched

–He can visit websites for kids such as http://www.nickjr.com/ or http://www.sesameworkshop.org/ . This site offers a variation of activities and games for your son as well http://www.kidsites.com/

I hope he gets better soon.

Mine was four and very sickly for the first few months he was with me.

Bead Lizards work miracles so long as your child is intelligent enough to learn how to do them. It isn’t that hard. The beads will only cost you about five dollars for a massive bag.

We started without a knot at the top. We would thread the keyring and the nose and bring the end with the keyring on it through the other side of the nose. Its easier.

If you buy Rexlace (Make sure its made in the US. They have a factory in China that turns out absolute Garbage) its a lot easier than using ribbon. It doesn’t bend and tangle as much and rather than tying the ends, you can run the lace back through the tail to close it off.

That would keep Lucian busy for hours.

Seeing as I just realized that this question is over three years old, I doubt any of this is remotely helpful to you but seeing as he’s the oldest, you may still be able to use the Lizard technique. Its also good for rainy days and those days and they’re little lizard gods when I’m not feeling well. They keep him busy.

He wants to make the lizard with the “longest tail in the world.” I wonder how that one is going to work out.
