How do I keep my job when I'm getting blamed for serious things that could lead to dismissal?

I’m on my final written warning for my till being down quite alot. The thing is, i have never stolen from my till and everytime a certain manager cashes my till up, its mysteriously down by quite a bit. My till is my responsibility and i make sure no ine else uses it but it always seems to be down this one manager cashes my till up. He doesnt like me. For the past few days, my till has been down 16 pound, then 10.50 and now 8.00. I’m almost certain thats me out of a job very soon and im pretty sure he’s been taking money out of my till. I know he has. My till shouldnt be down this much and he hates my guts. What do i do? no one will believe a member of staff over a manager. Abd its not like i short change customers or take from my own till. My till should be fine everytime but it’s not when one manager does it. What should u do about this? Sometimes he’s the only manager on the shift and i cant get anyone else to count my till.

You need to talk to someone else there about your suspicions. If he’s taking from your till and wanting you to look bad, he can probably be caught in the act if you get the co-operation of your superiors. Talk to another manager, or if possible, to the head, the one who this shifty one reports to. It shouldn’t matter whether you’re staff or manager - you’re a person.

Alternatively, can you insist on you both cashing your till up? For that to happen you’d have to be a quite confrontational about why.

Just don’t let anyone take advantage of you.

Start counting the change you give out twice, just to be sure. Count the drawer down with him and keep a personal log for the amount that your drawer had at the end of your shift. If he says your short, figure out for which day and compare to your log. If you think hes being shady present all of your evidence to the manager above him and say you suspect that he may be stealing.

They may not be able to prove he did anything but if other people start to have issues when he counts down their drawer at least the other manager can easily connect the dots. Good Luck

If your certain it is a manager and if this is a corporate, you need to go through their HQ or through a regional manager. Someone who manages outside the store. Their have been cases where, in-store managers themselves have helped themselves at employees expense.

I was in a hurry for work this morning when I posted. If the shortages only occur when it is the same manager balancing your till, that is a flag and easily determined by upper management. You should have an open door policy to upper management and if not a regional manager, you can talk to. If you do nothing your likely to be fired anyway, so you have nothing to loose. I would not go into too much detail as to the why’s and wherefore’s of this manager having it out for you. But I would question, when you are very careful about your till, why is it only short when he is the one doing the count? Let upper management, figure it out from there.

Thanks. I’ll tell the area manager.
