As Harley said above, it could be a food allergy…My story…My dog itched from the day I got him home…everyday for 4 years…I did everything I could think of, and tried darn near every food on the market…and then a German Shepherd breeder suggested I take him off ALL grain…which meant I had to try a food that was grain free…also, no dog bisquits or anything that had flour or grain in it…so I put him on Taste of the Wild dogfood…and his only treats are “chicken jerky” from Costco…He quit itching in 10 days, and hasn’t itched since.

I passed this suggestion on to another GSD owner, who’s dog had litterally dug and chewed holes in herself…she made the switch to a no-grain diet, and got the exact same results…all itching GONE!

Take him to the vet first to rule out parasites, or a dermatitus…and maybe give the “no-grain” diet a try. You have to do the food switch-over slowly, that’s why it takes about 10 days for the itching to end.

Dogs are very prone to allergies. Especially food allergies. The first thing to rule out is fleas and other parasites. Your vet will be able to diagnose it and give you some options to try.

Your dog might have mange of some type. Advantage Multi clears up mange, fleas or ear mites. If it’s not that…it can be the food. Best food in the US is www.healthypetnet.com/dawndalyce “Life’s Abundance” food. Go to that site for free samples or to order. Money back guarantee, your dog will love it, eat 1/2 as much, it’s fresher, super healthy, and delivered to your door, saving you gas, and impulse buying at the pet store.

Ok well glad to hear you are going to see a vet. I would watch what kind of flea products you use. We see patients who have bad reactions to some of that stuff. Anyway if you don’t think she is having a flea reaction then she my have other allergies. I could be food related, you have to go on a food trial and find out what she may be allergic too. It could be some sort of bacterial infection or the beginging of a hot spot, this is why I am so glad you are going to see your vet. Please let us know what you find out
