Is This My First Period?

So I’m kind of embarrassed (hence the anon) and I think I’m having my first period? But I don’t know, because I don’t really talk to my mom about that kind of thing. But see I woke up this morning and I had to pee before I took a shower, so I was sitting on the toilet and I glanced at my underwear and I had this sort of red smear in my underwear, like dried blood, but I didn’t want to like EXAMINE it or anything because I don’t really know my body all that well down there, so I just took a shower and thought I’d ignore it because I spotted like one time a year ago and my mom didn’t have her period until she was fifteen. So I just tried to ignore it (this was at five in the morning; I had to wake up early to get my grandmother ready for her dialysis appointment because her medi-ride people were coming at nine and I had to wake up before her because my mom and dad were leaving. It’s like 3:15 and not ten minutes ago I went pee and there’s more of that red stuff in my underwear, and when I wiped the toilet paper came out sort of dark pink. But I don’t really know if I’m just spotting again, because last time it was like just a few little speckles and now it’s like big smears? I’m kind of worried, and I’m thirteen, and I don’t think I’m ready to have my period yet. I tell my cousin everything (she lives in our house, and shes 21 and shes like my best friend) but she’s seven months pregnant and in her room with her husband and normally I don’t bother her when she’s resting with her husband but I don’t know what to do!!! Should I bother her? My mom has pads but they’re giant and my family will be able to tell if I put one on because I only have skinny jeans clean. What do I do?

Answer #1

It does sound like you’ve started - often the first period is very light, like spotting.

You’ll need to wear something - does your mother have pantyliners? If so, those will be fine if your bleeding is minimal, but if it comes on heavier, you’re going to have to use those bulky pads - this is why many girls have track pants in their wardrobe…for these kinds of days.

Answer #2

Ask your cousin :) don’t be embarassed it’s a natural part of life.

Then tell your mom of hve your cousin tell her for you.

Good luck!(:

Answer #3

Go to your cousin and ask her for advice… You might just be spotting
