IS THIS LEGAL ???

I recently visited a local Thriftshop? The owners have a sign asking for donations and they also pick up your left over garage sale items. It is in a shopping center that I pass on a daily basis and theres always items waiting at the door for them. The other day I stopped by a sandwich shop a few doors down from this store and what I heard may very well be allowed but doesn’t seem right?I was told by the owner of the sandwich shop that they (thrift store)has not one needy organization that they give to but instead when they are given things like cameras,Big Screen Televisions, that they sell them on Ebay or Craigslist and pocket the funds? Is this Legal for a thrift shop for shouldn’t they be giving to a needy organization??

Answer #1

yes that is illegal…any store that did that it illegal because they are given those items to give away …its like working at bestbuy and getting a load of computers delivered to the store and just taking those computer home with you.

Answer #2

As long as they do not say they give the proceeds to anyone, it is perfectly legal.
