I heard that the PS3 is only going to cost $299 is this true?

It’s still just a rumor, as Sony hasn’t made an official announcement yet, but signs have already started popping up in stores with that price listed on it, so if it’s a rumor, it’s a pretty well-substantiated one.

Yesterday they officially announced at gamerscon that they are dropping all ps3 models to 100 cheaper, meaning that the 80 gig ps3 is 299, the 120 is 399. and they also announced that the ps3 slim will be retailing at 299 and is 120 gigs. the price cuts on current models are active right now. and the slim ps3 I believe is going to be released in september, but I could be wrong.
