Answer #1

kurupt and ljohn are right. And to all the negative comments having a mental illness is not something people ask for or want to have. You do not have control over the situation and it hurts just as bad as a person suffering from cancer, just in a different way. No one has any right to say that someone suffering should go to hell for their pain. With mental illness you become BLIND to positives in life and unfortunately your brain doesn’t snap out of it just because someone says “youre going to hell”. Some of these comments are so rude. Respect the dead and let God decide. The things being said are like telling a person that is suffering from a fatal cancer that if they choose to end their life and suffering earlier than planned, that they will be forever damned in hell. There is just no way out sometimes and being with God in heaven is a much nicer thought than suffering on earth from SICKNESS whether mental, physical, or both.

Answer #2

Depends on your religion, I guess…

Answer #3

and also to some, and I will argue the fact also. How is it murder? explain to me how is that murder? some of you say that there is exceptions to the fact and others say that there is no way possible. You people make it sound like you already know what the afterlife brings and make yourselves sound like church goers. BUT!!! none of you know!!! you have no idea whether or not that is true or false. Perhaps your life is the same as if I accidently smeared a mouse on the road. Perhaps your life is the same as an infant being aborted. PERHAPS YOU SHOULDNT JUDGE AND BASE YOUR OPINIONS ON SOMETHING YOU REALLY HAVE NO ROOM TO SAY IF ITS A SIN OR NOT!!!, because you never know. Adolf Hitler maybe a person with wings that might greet you at that front door just for saying “you go to hell for commiting suicide” Think twice before you speak…

Answer #4

Or perhaps you could be a good person and not say you will go to hell and try to talk to them WITHOUT saying that they need to talk to a professional and save your petty B.S. and quit thinking about yourselves and say “maybe… I am no diffrent than that dead leaf falling from that tree right there” and get over the whole fact that we started the decaying process from the moment we were prepared. Your whole catholic crap and your thou shall not believe in this crap…whatever, was thrown out the window as soon as you discovered your own soul. GOD created it for you, and it was up to you to decide what you wanted to do with it. Even if you wanted to leave early against his will, he will forgive you. As long as it was going with his plan you had sent for you. If you tried your best and you did what ever you could…GOD will never deny, But for you people that think that he should deny people even though they ended there own lifes out of grief and misery…why should you feel like you are so special? and why say such hurfull comments, and why judge people in a way where you feel you are better? like I said you go against everything that GOD was trying to say in the first place…think about it

Answer #5

of course. its like murder but worse, because if you kill someone its still a sin but you can ask for forgivness afterwards. But with suicide you cant ask for forgivness after

Answer #6

hell yeah its a sin, its a mager one if you ever want to go to heaven cuz if you kill yourself you have just commited murder and since your the one that is dead you cant ask for forgivness of that murder cuz you murdered yourself!!! sorry, got a little spased im ok now…

Answer #7

that advice I sent before… scratch the “you will probably go to hell if you comit it.” I’m not God… I don’t know if you’ll go to hell.

But I do beleive it’s a sin.. Just to be on the safe side… don’t do it.

Answer #8

I dont believe it is a sin because I believe that nothing can separate us from the love of god. and I also think that anyone can be forgiven dead or alive. just like I believe hitler is in heaven, though he killed millions, he is still a child of god and god forgives people, hes knows we’re imperfect humans, he made us that way!

Answer #9

yes it is a sin and it is one that never can be forgiven…its says so in his word…if you commit suicide then you automatically go to hell…if you are considering it go to someone who can help…talk to someone…or pray about it…if noone else can help you then god can..

Answer #10

no matter what your reason to commit suicide, it is a sin, and if you believe in catholicism of any sort, you will live in hell for eternity. if you are seriously considering suicide, immidietly go see somebody, there ARE other ways to deal with your issues.

Answer #11

No i don’t think it is, my friend recently killed herself, and yes i miss her, but i don’t hate her for it, i love her. She was unhappy and couldn’t go on, and i don’t blame her.

Answer #12

Yes, it is. Suicide is a mortal sin. There are circumstances in which it is not sinful, such as someone commiting suicide because they were very depressed or mentally ill. Otherwise, it is sinful.

Answer #13

im not even a christain but from a christain point of view: “thou shalt not kill” ur killing ur self right? there ya go its against a commandment

Answer #14

That is by far the stupidest thing I’ve heard yet. “Because youre not alive anymore”…PFF!!! how can someone even respond to something so stupid. Make sure you believe that when you die, because you will someday

Answer #15

Well said.

Answer #16

John I really do believe your ex girlfriend is in a better place than here. I re read some of the comments and apparently no one is willing to change there tone. If who ever is so stuck up and hell bent that if people who struggled there whole lives commited suicide without ever harming a person, and they did the best they could deserves to go to hell. Or infact a Church itself would deny a life in regards for the whole thing…Many of you need to take a closer look at your own lives. Just think if people knew what was hiding in your closet, but we dont know. We are all the same and we look for the same paradise realize ir or not. I dont read the bible or go to church, but at least I like to think that I know better than to rant about something that can hurt someone else

Answer #17

I was never saying I was right, but would I never say that I was wrong either. I believe your girlfriend is infact in Heaven because someone told her (not GOD) but someone told her she had a disease. And as far as a Church not wanting to celebrate the life she once had is the whole reason why church goers believe what they believe. They arent preaching GODs word. They are preaching what they want to say. Remember lots of Priests are child molesters, I dont think thats right. I dont think thats what GOD had in mind. But for the ones that are Preachers of GOD they would never deny a life even after death. I dont go to church, but you can tell a good person when you see them.

Answer #18

My ex girlfriend commited suicide and the church would not do the service. I’m writting a paper on this question in my class. I find most of you on here disturbing for so quickly damming some one for this act. She had a mental illness and here some of you stand saying hell or sin. I believe all are forgiven for this. And to call it a sin is wrong. I hope all of you look deep into this instead of believing everything in the text. And where is it in the text. Thou shall not kill? It’s a ethical code to follow. Not a sentence on where you go. Thats all you have to argue on whether or not it is a sin. I pray you open your minds a little more.

Answer #19

by saying its a sin and going by something NONE of you know other than repeating something that was once spoken to you, you are apparently judging a person and saying the deserve to go to hell for commiting an act which they felt would get them closer to god. You see something wrong with what youre saying here? If my friend commits suicide because life was too much to deal with but was begging for forgiveness before he or she even attempted, how is that wrong? if its wrong in your eyes, then your god is diffrent than the one I was looking for. So in other words keep your catholic ways and be happy that you feel superior about yourselves because you go against the moral that holds us all as one.

Answer #20

Dear fau, Yes, suicide is a sin. It is usually the sin of despair, of being unable to have hope in God, in a better future. It is a rejection of life as the gift of God, of looking to God to work things out. And, as redhotchic pointed out, it removes the possibility of repentence in this life.

Suicide has been called “a permanent solution for temporary problems.” Please, if you are considering suicide, pray to God for hope, talk to someone, anyone, and ask for help, even just ask someone to hear your problems so you don’t have to carry them alone. Do not cast away the possibility of future joy and good and life just because you cannot see them from where you are.

Answer #21

Answer #22
