Is it possible to ground a grown woman?

Okay I’m 23 years old…I am married…I live obviously with my husband…but when his out of town I like to stay with my parents so I dont get too lonely…My parents are awesome in everyway…their very young 16 years older than me so we get a long really well …and they can sometimes be on the crazy side..

The thing is when I have a huge fight with them…my dad can actually still tell me to go up to my room and don’t come down till I tell you too..and OMG!!I STILL DO IT!!…like my legs feel bewitched or something..@#$%^$and I CAN’T BELEIVE I ACTUALLY WHINE TOO!This is so embaressing!!

I mean my father is 9 year older than my husband who is 30 angd my husband can’t even dream of doing that to me.I’d slap his head upside down!

Is this possible?Has it ever happened to you? What should I so?

Your parents are out of line. They have absolutely no right to ground you, regardless of whether you are in their house or not. They can decide to not let you stay with them while your husband is away, but grounding you/sending you to your room is absolutely ridiculous. We tend to revert to familiar behaviour patterns in relationships and if it’s important to you to be able to stay with your parents, you need to talk to them, as an adult, and tell them you will discuss differences that occur while you are in their home, but will not tolerate being treated like a child. If that doesn’t work, try inviting a friend over to stay with you when your husband goes away, or get a pet to keep you company.

wowww. I mean have you ever herd of a calculator?! haha thats funny. but I mean I guess thats what happens when your parents are so close to age? no idea.

Answer #3

It is only possible if the grown woman actually does it. It is in your control. And if you dont want to be 35 and sulking in your room I suggest you have a discussion with your parents. This isnt even about whether you fight with your parents, but how your parents see and treat you and how you behave around them. They obviously dont respect the fact that you’re an adult, and part of that reason is you are not acting like it. I live in my parent’s house, but they only control parts of my life I choose to let them. It’s your choice…

Answer #4

Well when you’re acting like a brat you’re going to be treated like one. However, you are married and just staying in their house for a short while so grounding you is kind of odd. Try not to fight with them…hold your tongue. You might be right in what you’re fighting for but the end result (of getting grounded) isn’t worth the hassle, right?

Hey…don’t insult first graders, my son is in first grade and he subtracted them correctly…lol

How can your parents only be 16 years older than you? That makes them 39. 39-23 = 7. That’d mean they were 7 when they had you - that’s impossible. Unless you were adopted by them…*

ROFL

this will be the quote of the month…

As far as the grounding thing goes, they can’t really tell you what to do since your over 18 - but they can kick you out. So while you under their roof, you do still have to go by their rules.

I know informer220…lol…for a second I thought I was hallucinating or something…

Answer #9

umm… if they were 16 YEARS OLDER that means that they were 16 when they had her… but other than that the other person is right.

Wow… who the fck did that math up there?! O.o Maybe they misread something in the question or were drunk/half asleep when they posted it? Or maybe they even fcked the math up on purpose just for the hell of it to see if someone would catch it and comment? Whatever the case may be, they sure as hell gave us a good laugh… and just for the record, I 3rd that quote Informer_220 hahaha
