Is it necessary to go to the doctor for a broken toe?

This morning I opened a door and the door brought up my pinky toe and bent it backwards. I felt a pop when this happened. It’s really swollen and it hurts, but I’m not sure if it’s actually broken or not. Do I need to go to the doctor, or should I rest it and take a lot of tylenol?

When I broke my pinky toe, I knew it right away. It hurts. I went to my cousins house, he’s a orthopedic surgon. He had to pop it back in place, it was worse then breaking it but if I wanted my shoes not to hurt and pinch later on I needed it done. Be on the safe side and go to the doctor after 2 days if the swelling does not go down.

well my friend broke her toe but it went numb and she didnt know that she broke her toe until she looked down and she had to have sugrey so you might need to go to the doc to see if it bad

If it is broken the doctors will just give you tylenol and tape it to the toe next to it, to restrict movemet. If it’s dislocated, however, it needs to be reset. I’d say as long as the pain is not excruciating give it a day and see how you feel tomorrow.

Well, there’s not a lot that can be done for a broken toe, but if you want to get it checked, then go to ER.

Otherwise, just take painkillers and try to stay off it.
