is anorexia tempting?

ok - do not delete this! this is not me asking to lose weight (not that I wouldn’t want to, but not that way!)

just I’m doing a presentation on friday on anorexia, and I have been watching tons of stuff on it (seriously, you tube is heaving with the anti and pro ana’s!)

is it really a tempting way to lose weight? why? do people striving to starve themselves understand the bad effects on their body?

please don’t delete, this is an evaluation as much to people without a ED as anything else. I am NOT asking how to loose weight. I am NOT advocating ED’s… just a little psch 1-0-1

is it really a tempting way to lose weight? well, if you are truly desperate, then yes. I have anorexia because I was under so much stress in ballet class and my life was literally falling apart so I just stopped eating. why? look above ^^^ do people striving to starve themselves understand the bad effects on their body? I do. I just don’t try to think about those things. Kind of like being in denial.

Eating disorders are about a need for control. It is usually associated with alcoholism/addiction, but the person obsesses over his/her weight instead of abusing a substance to control his/her emotions.

Anorexia is an eating disorder that is caused by a mental disorder. The person has an unrealistic perception of their body image so, therefore, have no will to overcome or even perceive that they are anorexic. Check out the site below for more info.

The schoolfriends I had who became anorexic or bullemic had other things going on in their lives which seemed to make it easier to musjudge dieting, and allow it to turn into an eating disorder. One had been going out with her much older brother’s friend, who then chucked her. This was obviously very traumatic to her, and seemed to trigger the anorexia. The other was a very poetic girl who noticed that most famous poets had miserable lives, and seemed to be influenced by this, to the point of becoming miserable herself - I can’t say what would have gone on in her life if she hadn’t been trying to be a miserable poet, but it made me think the misery and the bullemia were linked.

Oh yes it is VERY tempting, but it’s not the way. People think it’s the easy way out for trying to lose weight. They don’t want to do the right way of just diet and exercise. They’re looking for a quick fix, and they think starving is the only way. That’s for bigger people who want to lose weight. The people that are skinny have a fear of becoming a regular size, or in their mind, fat. Their mind is clouded with messed up images on what beauty is. With both, media and other people, cause them to feel this way. It causes them that they need to be skinny or perfect to survive in this messed up world. But that’s just what I think.♥

Answer #7

I dont think its tempting at all, especially when you know about it. you will think twice

but, why starve yourself when theres food to be eatin? :D

haha but then again, I eat what I want, excercise when I want, dont excercise when I dont want to, and yet, I still have a ‘perfect hourglass body’ as my best friend puts it

but maybe if you were fatter, it would probably be tempting, if your desperate..

Answer #8

No one sets out to be anorexic… they set out to be skinny… (for some reason people seem to equate the two) but when you have the disorder you are no longer in control. People want to be skinny to make themselves happy. When you have anorexia you are no longer happy with the way you look. So no I don’t think anorexia is tempting I think being skinny is. And a lot of anorexics start as teens. They’re not the best at thinking forward at what will happen to their bodies…

I would say yes it has to do with television…because kids watch t.v. and get this image in there mind on how we are supposed to look…and then they go to school and put down the girls who don’t look like those images…very very sad indeed…people need to relize as long as you have people in your life saying that you are beautiful to them…then who gives a crap what other people think…don’t hurt yourself to be the image on t.v. is saying we should be…screw them…because they are all fake anyways…fake hair…fake tan…fake face…fake boobs…fake eyelashes…fake noses…shall I go on…

Answer #10

I would say yes. I blame the T.V. Everyone is pressured to be thin. Who cares about being healthy. Only thin. Me, screw that! Give me some food :)

Very sad , but yes :( Because it is easier than working out. Just don’t eat. Yea, sure they know what it does to their body. But they don’t care. They have one thing in mind and that is to look like the woman on T.V.
