How can I deal with this insulting high school crap?

Ok, I drew this amazing pic of Mona Lisa in 1 week and everyone is saying that I printed it1 At first I told them I didn’t! They keep on telling me that I have no life, no talent, and no family! They also told me that I paid Patrick (my boyfriend) $100 to go out with me for a month! I swear, high school is torture. How should I deal with all of the above!

Answer #1

Pull out pencil and pad and sketch it in front of them - shouldn’t be hard for your talent to show through…Good luck !!

Answer #2

you know what? you know whats true and whats not true and if people are going to doubt you and tell you things that are not true then basically they are idiots and are not worth your time. I say to hell with them !!

Answer #3

To hell with them. If none of it’s true and you know it, then tell them to go to hell. If they’re your friends, they shouldn’t be, and if they’re just jerks… then to hell with them…

Answer #4

Ah, the joys of high school. The best option available for you is to just wait it out. High school is like that. Just wait until you get into college and this changes.

Meanwhile, you might want to change your focus from rumors/self image to other things like volunteer work.

Dear curious18, High school can be some of the most difficult years to get through. When others are saying things about our work that is well done it shows their insecurities about their own work. Jealousy is a very strange and strong monster to deal with. So saying that it’s going to be all about how you deal with them. You must really keep in mind that these people are the ones who you should feel sorry for. Do not entertain them by arguing or even acknowledging them when they are negative. Find a few friends that you can rely on and who share your interests. We mange to get through high school in spite of those few who are jealous of us. I too could draw and felt how cruel others in my class were when they had a hard time to draw. I just ingnored them and it inspired me to draw and paint even more beautiful pictures. Sue…good luck
