How to get to sleep if I'm an insomniac?

Right, ever since I can remember I’ve never been able to get to sleep. I can lie there for hours and hours and just cannot sleep till about 5 in the morning.

I have to be up by 7 for school, so I’m always really tired and can’t concentrate, and now I’m doing GCSE’s, school is stressing me out.

Is it because of stress I can’t get to sleep? I’ve heard that stress can cause problems sleeping, but I’m no expert, so I don’t know…

There is nothing I can do to help me get to sleep, I know how you feel. I can lay in bed for up to 6 hours or more trying to get to sleep, it’s terrible. The earlier I go to sleep, the longer I stay awake. For school I go to bed at around 10:30pm and have to get up at 6:00am. For the next day I’m just sooo tired. I’m also doing GCSES so I know how important it is to get our sleeep!

Here are some tips which may work for you:

Dont’s -Watch any TV or play on aPlaystation etc 2 hours before bed -Eat you meals after 8:00pm, eating too close to bedtime isn’t good. -Have any caffeine for a few hours before bed.

-

Dos -Listen to some music whilst sleeping if it helps -Read for half an hour before sleep -Get your brain mentally ready for bed ie: calm everything down, move around slowly, get all nice and ready in your pjs - an hour or two before bed

Yes, insomnia can be caused by stress. There are some medication that you can take if it continues and gets even more serious and nothing else helps. Go to your doctor and they will analyse the situation and see if you need any medications. They could provide you with sleeping pills, anti-depressants, melatonins, antihistamines - it all depends on what the situation is.

Wish you the best of luck :)

I have the same thing. I really don’t know what it is. Like I’m tired all day, then night comes around and its time to sleep, and I lay there for hours. It sucks.

im the same way it takes me at least an hour to fall asleep. I don’t know what it is but I think it’s just how you are..I don’t know don’t listen to me im stupid.

I don’t drink caffine after 6:00, I exercise daily for at least 30 minutes, and I’ve taken sleeping pills. None of this things have ever helped me. I usually get 2-3 hours of sleep. Sometimes I’ll go two days without sleep or I’ll fall asleep at 9 in the morning only to wake up an hour later. I wish I knew how to fix, but it seems like I’m the same boat as a lot of others.

Answer #6

I used to go through the same problems and then I started taking sleeping pills. I know they are not safe but I stopped. if you want to go to sleep regularly I suggest you stay away from coffee or any type of caffeine and be very active during the day. if you exercise or work during the day you’ll be exhausted and tired and hopefully fall asleep faster then before. hope I helped! =]

Wow, I can lay there in bed for hours too, and not even doze off. I don’t know what my problem is. But yeah last night I was still awake at like 3 in the morning and I couldn’t sleep. I have to get up at 7 also so it really sucks when it’s time for school I’m tired ALLL day, but when I have to go to bed, I am not sleppy at all. Ugh, it sucks being sooo tired in the morning.

It could be stress, but I’m not sure either.
