How can I inactive a cell phone?

My friend gave me her cell phone but she still has her account on it,I need to inactive hers & make one for myself, But i have no idea what to do?

First, your friend has to close that account and you have to go to the Cell Phone Company that you chose to use and open an account.

She has to get the phone turned off, then you have to open an accoumt, and the factory data reset the phone.
