I believe it is if you do it to collect like insurance policies, avoid debts, or for any other illegal reason.

It is illegal to fake your own death, yes. You would be charged with fraud and tax evasion (I think) if you “came back” (aka: caught)

if you’re doin’ it to play things with your town or community, or to seek attention, cut it out… no specific charges or case may be filed against you, but you’ll lose the people you knew would help when you need them, may not be close to you, but the people (e.g., neighbors, colleague, schoolmates, teachers etc) you get to deal with everyday.. the trust won’t be the same again, and people would think you’re a super emo person, seeking for people’s attention.. I tell you, it’s gonna suck up big time…
