If you live in the US, are you proud of your country?

If you live in the US like myself, are you proud of your country? I know I am!! I’m referring this question to Michelle Obomma’s remark saying I’ve never been proud of my country until my adult life. Those are her remarks. Her husband is apalling and a disgrace!! Let’s pray to god that he doesn’t get in the White House.

Answer #1

I dunno. I just think we are a country… there are thousands of us. sure we have more rights but japan has better technology, and aulstralia and canada have hotter guys so it evens out in the end.

Answer #2

there are many things that make me proud of america just as there are many things that make me embarrassed.

I love our freedom, I deplore our cruelty.

I love our beauty, I hate our poverty.

I respect our soldiers, I deplore the war they are fighting.

Answer #3

Not really. There are many good parts of America, but then there are also bad parts of America. In my opinion, there is too much prejudice in this country and I don’t mean just against different races. I’m talking about prejudice against people who don’t live up to a certain standard or people who might be different from the average Joe.
I would like to add that certain people who run the government seem to not want to lower gas prices. Someone told me that Brazil has found another source of fuel for cars that isn’t as expensive as our oil prices. So why can’t the U. S seem to come up with a way to either lower the cost of gas or find an alternative source of fuel. So to answer your question, I’m proud of my country, but at the same time I’m not.

Answer #4

If our country is so pathetic why do you stay. Our military men and women would be dissapointed to read this one. To my knowledge we are not drafting. LOL Know your facts though we should be. Those who choose to go into the military know there is a possibility to be deployed. Thats why we have military services to protect our country. The little kids being bombed in Iraq are being hit by the insurgents. We are trying to prevent this from happening. My children are proud there daddy is a US soldier. We live in a country where if you work hard enough you can do or be whatever you want. American people can actually live there dreams. Nothing is perfect but we are closer than anything else. As far as rules to control us , how about rules to control violence, crime, injustice. What country doesnt have rules? Thats probably the most ignorant thing I have ever heard that rules take away our freedom. To state my point I love my country and God Bless those Troops putting there life on the line even for the clueless. And Obama will not be getting my vote…

Answer #5

I’m not. We shouldn’t be in the war. Millions of parents to new born babies and children in gerneral are dying. Their kids will grow up without one parent. Some will never ven get to meet them. We get drafted into the war, without a choice.. that’s deffinatly not freedom. Have you seen the pictures of the little kids that get bombed over in Iraq? It’s stupid and pointless. We have so many rules, and everyone has to follow them except the people in the forces(police, firefighters, army, pesident) It’s stupid, we shouldn’t have someone ruleing us, it’s called freedom.. Apparently we don’t have it. We have rapists, murders, criminals that just get away. That makes a good country, doesn’t it? No. I think our country is pathetic. (Just my opinion.)

Answer #6

I am proud to live in America.

The problem isn’t the war which is being pursued to empower the people of a country where they have been oppressed for far too long.

The problem (with both parties) is that when the elected officials get into office they forget that they are servants of ALL the people and become servants to private organizations and individuals. We need to elect individuals (in both parties) who will stand up for what is right for all the people and will truly commit to laws that are in conformity with the Constitution.

True, it’s a shame that we have ended up being the policemen of the world. But it is necessary for someone to be willing to help guarantee freedom throughout the world and we seem to be the only ones willing and able to perform that function. It, in the long run, helps to protect our own freedoms and way of life.

Is our country perfect? No. But you have to expect a country as diverse as ours to have a few faults. The best we can do is to try to correct those faults as we recognize them.

Answer #7

I am, despite all the crap going on in the world. In this country, you can say you’re not proud of it and bash it. In some countries, you’ll probably get your head cut off for talking bad. Kim Jong il ring a bell anyone?

Answer #8

“If our country is so pathetic why do you stay.”

I am an american and am not going to leave just because an idiot gets elected to the presidency. Bill Clinton put well when he said there is nothing wrong with america that cant be fixed by what’s right with america.

“Our military men and women would be dissapointed to read this one.”

Some would, some wouldn’t. The troops are not as homogenous as you think.

“To my knowledge we are not drafting. LOL Know your facts though we should be.”

If we did have a draft, this war would have been over a long time ago. In fact, it might not have ever started. Not that I want to see a draft though.

“Those who choose to go into the military know there is a possibility to be deployed. Thats why we have military services to protect our country.”

I don’t see the correlation. Most people go into the military because of what it will do for them, not out of a sense of patriotism.

“The little kids being bombed in Iraq are being hit by the insurgents.”

Are you really trying to suggest that our invasion didn’t directly kill tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis? And those “insurgents” didn’t exist in Iraq before we invaded. So even those killed in sectarian violence would not be dead today had we not invaded.

“We are trying to prevent this from happening. “

So tell me, how is that going?

“My children are proud there daddy is a US soldier.”

As they should be, and as we all should be. But being proud of the job our soldiers are doing has nothing to do with the horrible job our leaders are doing.

“We live in a country where if you work hard enough you can do or be whatever you want. American people can actually live there dreams.”

Not exactly true. There are plenty of people who work hard and still can’t get by, much less live their dreams.

“Nothing is perfect but we are closer than anything else.”

Even if it is true, that doesn’t mean there aren’t tons of problems that need addressing.

“To state my point I love my country and God Bless those Troops putting there life on the line even for the clueless. And Obama will not be getting my vote…”

Gee what a surprise. I have no doubts you will be voting for old man McCoot. Too bad you are too blinded by patriotism and partisanship to see that the best chance your husband has of coming home safe is with Obama.

Answer #9

Just want to say something about the war with Iraq. A recent history teacher has informed me that a possible cause we are still in Iraq is because we are trying to prevent another Hitler situation…like, we don’t want a dictator to rise in Iraq…that is what seems legit, but who knows. And yes, I’m proud of certain aspects of my country.

Answer #10

I think that this country and what is was originally formed for are beautiful things. However, we now live in what is been referred to as The World’s Police. That being said, with great power comes great corruption. Yes, think that its great that we live in a country with military installations in some 150 or so other nations. We are alowed by the UN to keep nuclear arms. We live in the most racist country on the face of the planet. We have more corruption in our government then any other at any time in history. Our president and his cabinet are ALL major oil owners in the United States. This country was founded on for the public so why do we now elect idiots in to office that only want to further their own personal gains? This country is great but the people in it are something less then desirable.

Answer #11

Answer #12
