do other countries have gas at 3$ and have the prices for food general things so high? if so, why?

Gasoline prices in the US are among the cheapest. In Europe drivers pay much more for gasoline than we do. US food prices are also among the lowest.

I believe in Brazil gas is extremly cheap but I think that is because they use ethonol as a primary source. The thing is many of these other countries are able to drill just about wherever they want. Our laws prevent us from drilling in different locations. Another thing is the taxes on gas makes it very expensive as well, the gas companys have massive mark ups on their gas to fund manditory research and taxes. In truth the gas companies only make about 8 cents a gallon for every gallon sold (at the very most).
