If my mother has pneumonia, is there a possiblity I could catch it?

Just today my mother told me she had pneumonia, and she has been sick for 2 weeks at the least…well just not too long ago I started getting a sore throat and my nose is being funny…I don’t want to catch a cold either though so I took some aspirin or something like that…I want to know if it’s possible I could get a cold or pneumonia.

The organisms that cause pneumonia can all be highly contagious. Disease is spread to others when the patient coughs or sneezes, ejecting contaminated droplets into the air where others inhale them. Disease is also spread by contact with infected saliva; soiled handkerchiefs; contaminated skin; shared utensils, glasses, and dishes; and, yes, even a kiss from mother, husband, or wife. Any contact with any infected material may lead to a new infection.

I’ve had Pneumonia many times and my son has never ‘caught’ it. There are two types, however, and I believe, it’s the viral kind that is contagious.

What my son did do was take care of me. He did things for me so that I wouldn’t get even sicker. He cared about me and was there for me when I needed him most. Pneumonia can be life threatening.

I just now went to google and learned that there are, indeed, 2 types of Pneumonia. The viral kind can be contagious. Go to this website and you will find out anything you need to know.
