Do I need help for this depression?

My friend and sister’s boss just died and mine and my sister’s friend’s mother just died and I have been depressed for about two days now. Is this normal or do I need help from a doctor or psychiatrist?

Answer #1

Not the help you think. You’ll be fine. Use that feeling to help your sisters friend through this. Remember why you feel this way. Be strong.

Sassy, Sounds really bad. Yes it’s normal but you need your friends now more than ever. Also they need you just as bad even if it doesn’t show. If you can’t pull out of it yourself by all means see a doctor. Been ther done that. They have some great stuff to make you feel better. Colt

I’d say that two days is definitely too early to proclaim depression. It’s normal to feel down in the dumps for awhile after a traumatic event, but try and be strong. Take part in activities you love, relax, spend time with close family and friends, do whatever make you happy. I’m almost certain you’ll be just fine, but if weeks pass and you’re still feeling like that, it may be time to seek professional help. I just started seeing a counsellor for depression myself and it really does help. And no, it doesn’t mean you’re crazy or anything, that’s a very common misconception. In fact, a lot of famous people seek professional help. I wish you and your sister the best of luck and hopefully, professional help won’t be neccessary, but if it is, don’t hold back. If there’s anything else, fun- mail me. Peace!

no, you are not depressed. i’m sure it is hard to go through something like this, but like everyone said earlier, this is the time when your friend needs you the most. it is normal to feel someone helpless in this situation because there’s not really much you can say to make someone feel better. you just have to let them know that you are here for them. things will look up for you, and i hope that you and your friend and sister find the comfort you need to carry on.
