I’m in love with him, and he’s leaving for college.

I’m 16 years old, and I’m in love for the first time. It is wonderful, not only is he my boyfriend, but also my best friend. We are in an extremely healthy relationship. And we both get along nicely with each others friends Although, he leaves for college in less than a month, and a long distance relationship just seems too far out of the question. As badly as I want to be with him, I don’t want the both of us to miss out on what our youth years have to offer. And I’m sure we will stay in touch …but living so far apart, I’m sure we will grow apart. His family is also moving out of state, so this wont be known as home to him anymore. I’m just looking for a little advice as how to handle all the emotions, and how to keep myself together after he leaves, and id also like to hear from people who have gone through similar situations. I would greatly appreciate the responses. Thanks

Sorry this is so much later than when you posted this, but I was going through and realized I would like to comment on it. My best friend went through exactly the same thing. She loved him, he went away;as did his family. She hardly ever sees him except when he comes up to see his friends. She is still having a bit of a hard time about it, but she’s moving on. She still likes him a lot but realized it wasn’t gonna work since she doesnt see him. I feel bad for her and wish I could help but I can’t. I hope you are doing okay too. Just remember there are more people out there, and if you can’t find the right one like him, then maybe you will get back together at some point later on. Good luck with all and I hope everything is all right.
