I have a dissfigured ligament, what do I do

well, back in early january I was tackled but a big guy, and he dissfigured my ligament in my right hand, my thumb is still quite stiff and it can be hard to move it sometimes, and it still hurts and it is also still quite bruised around the area it happened. I went to the doctor when my teacher knew something wasn’t right just by looking at it and thats when my doctor ‘diagnosed’ me with a dissfigured ligament, she said it’ll talk until atleast the end of may to get better but she also said that my thumb should have gone back to its original positioning, and it hadn’t I was wondering if there was any exercises or streches that I can do to loosen the thumb, my doctor also said that I had to move it constantly, is there anything I can do to releive it of the pain and do things to make it get better, without using painkillers and stuff like that, thanks very much.

It depends which ligament it is you’ve disfigured. If your doctor says to keep it active, try gettiing a squeezy ball and using your thumb to squeeze it. Also, if it gets really sore, put it under cold water to reduce the bruising and swelling. Apart from gentle excercises, try not to put to much pressure or strain on to the damaged ligament as it could make it worse. Hope it gets better.
