How do I tell mom that I'm emo?

How do I tell my single parent mom that im emo @ age 13

Answer #1

First off, I’m emo. So I can help you. Try dropping little hints and if she doesn’t get it, well here’s how you do it. Ask her what she think ‘emo’ people are. If she answers something along the lines of ‘freaks’ then back off and try again later. When she gets tired of you asking she will probobly say; “Why do you keep asking that?” then say “don’t know. Hey, if I told you I was emo, would you be ok with it? Just asking.” If she answers yes than say; “Mom, I really need you to help me. I’m going through an emo ‘phase’ and am trying to figure out if its right for me. Please don’t freak, I need someone who will always love me no matter how I am during this part of my life.” If she says no; “Mom, I am emo, and I don’t care if you don’t like it. I’m me trying to find my place in life and this is and/or may be what’s right for me. Just because I’m emo doesn’t mean I don’t love you.” (right after leave the room immediantly no matter what she says or threatens. She may not know it, but she needs time to think about this.) By the way, if it makes you feel better, some moms are really understanding when it comes to announcing that you’re goth or emo.

u walk up to her and say “ hi mom I’m emo”

Answer #3

Think your mum should have figured it out by now. Im sure if my kid dyed their hair black and listened to emo music I would figure it out. Why should it matter anyway?

Answer #4

just make a compliment on something that looks emo while your mums around and go “man that is so rad. its like so emo” and then your mum will figure out youre emo. but seriallly dood, emo is a subculture like chav, skater, goth etc. last year when I went through an emo phase, I was ashamed of saying or even thinking that I was emo because I thought that emos were depressed and cut their wrists…how dumb I was then. yeah emo has nothing to do with being depressed. =) yeah now I wear watever the hell I want. I reckon im more alternative now.

Answer #5

Hm… Okay… Emo is a genre of music, it means nothing else. Except some people consider it a style. Why would you need to tell your mom? If your trying to say that you have some things going on emotionally then find out whats making you feel that way and deal with one problem at a time. If you want to talk to your mom about some problems, then just sit down and talk to her. It will make her feel good knowing you can turn to her when something is wrong.

Answer #6

well shes probably aware of a lot of bad things that people consider emo. emo is a genre of music and now a style of dressing. emo has nothing to do with self harm (thats has its own catagory) its really just like being part of a stereotype… goth, punk, prep, jock, nerd, gangster…whatver esle there is now days. sum up all the reasons why you consider yourself emo. and tell them to your mum. it shouldnt be a problem if you dont do anything thats wrong.

Answer #7

She would have picked up that something is different with you like my mum did, I think they more discovered me, than I told them, its best if you tell them though , when they find out for themselves they feel somewhat betrayed…?

Just tell her your going through an emotional time right now, you just need time to adjust and find your place in the world, your depressed and want or dont want help…etc…if you need more help comment me!

Answer #8

why are you emo anyway? that is the spirit of depression! I rebuke that spirit.
