Can you tell me if hes a masochism or just different?

Is my boyfriend a masochism beacuse he has knives in his room and theres sometimes blood on his sleeves and he never lets anyone see his left arm…he is always wearing sweeters even in the summer. I dont want him to hurt hiself…can you tell me if hes a masochism or just different?

That’s not masochism, that’s self harm… I just did a paper on this, let me see if I can find the links to explain what that is…

Here, it basically explains what self harm is, why people do it, etc etc. He’s trying to cope with a lot of pain, so try not to freak out on him. But there are better ways, and there is no good reason he should be in that pain if there are people that can help him. Macoschism is bascially BDSM which is a sexual practise So I doubt thats what your boyfriend is doing. It sounds like he is self harming. Cutting himself to ease pain or pressure. There is obvioulsy something upsetting him. You need to discuss this with him. Or maybe its just a hole misunderstanding.
