How would I do these math problems?

I just want HELP. I know this is 2 step equations, but I get confused sometimes… 8.) 8-3n=-2+2n For 2 step equations, I know I have to sub. or add to both sides, but I don’t know where to on this question.

  1. 12+7x=x-18 Would I subtract 12 from -18? & then divide -30/7?
Answer #1

you have to add like terms…so bring the variables like ‘n’ or ‘x’ to one side and add them (or subtract if they have minus sign lol) and bring all the other like terms to the other side and add those as well

the idea is to solve for the given variable ‘n’ or ‘x’…so in the end your answer should look sumthing like n = sumthing or x = sumthing

Answer #2

8.) 8-3n=-2+2n

     +3n       +3n
     8=-2+5n
     +2      +2
    10=5n
 devide by 5 on both sides of the equation
   2=n

10.) 12+7x=x-18 +18 +18 30+7x=x -7x -7x 30= -6x devide by -6 on both sides -5=x

hope that helped!

Answer #3

Well the only two types of terms you have here are n^1 (aka n) and n^0 (aka 1). You don’t need to do anything fancy. Just preform the same operations to both sides of the equations.

Answer #4

The trick is to isolate the variables on one side of the equation. Once you do that it’s easy to find their value.

Answer #5

You have me on this one, I stink at math. I’m not sure.

Answer #6

8-3n=-2+2n -3n-2n=-2-8 -5n=-10 -5n/-5=-10/-5 n=2

Answer #7

how do I do that? do you mean to find like terms?
