What's the first step to this math problem?

I know I’m not supposed to ask for help but I’m doing math online and the link for explaining the question is broken I just need to know what my first step would be to slove this equation algebraically then I can figure the rest out myself the question is

3+squareroot of X-1=X.

I don’t know if I need to square the equation first to get rid of the square root or put all the X’s on one side of the equation… if anyone knows the first step please let me know

Answer #1

haha no thanks but thanks for trying to help this is grade 11 pure math which pretty much means its advanced placement thank you for trying to help

Answer #2

I’m only in yr9 but I think that x=5

You need to try and get the √X-1 onto one side so that you can square both sides, hope this helps
