How will Obamas plan benefit America?

  1. If he raises taxes on buisnesses then what is to keep the buisnesses from moving overseas?
  2. Why does he believe that the rich paying 96 percent of the governments income isnt enough?
  3. If he is such a great leader why did he refuse to vote 130 times?
  4. Why is every time I hear about change it involves more spending?
Answer #1

thank you mentor…this did seem like veangance against Bush and the republican party..I think that was the change everyone was looking for…as to the . questions 1- we will probably lose a lot of jobs to relocation, DEPENDING entirely on his tax plan…we don’t know exactly what it is yet..he’s really too vague about everything, but the stock market is showing signs of uncertainty isnt it? …2- ithink he doesn’t really know much about economics, and he is just looking for something to say to show that he is working for a solution..it may not even be doable, some dems WILL get in the way…3- well, he ISN’T a great leader, he has the chance to become one, but I don’t even think HE fully understands the gravity of the position he know holds…4- he is warning us to be prepared to suffer, just like in his acceptance speech, basically telling everyone he can’t possibly accomplish all of his promises in one year, or one term…thinkin re-election already? sheeesh…HE WILL SPEND AND SPEND AND SPEND… and then we get to keep the “change”.. it’s going to be interesting, I can tell you that much..

Answer #2

…okay. OBAMA IS PRESIDENT. Get over it, stop complaining, and dumping on him. It is what it is.

Answer #3

The rich don’t pay 96% of the government’s income. If you have to make up phony statistics, your entire argument collapses.

Answer #4

Obama only won because the public is starving for change whether good or bad. They believed his snow job about spreading the wealth. I must have been brought up wrong because I was taught you had to work to get ahead not wait for a worthless, pathetic liar to come along and take from those that do work and give to those that don’t

Answer #5

Actually, there hasn’t been a balanced budget since the Civil War…Signing a bill for a balanced budget doesn’t make it “balanced”…

EVERYBODY who is “middle class” works hard…but now you’ll just be working harder for the government…America voted “for the money”…thinking they were going to get something back…or get something for nothing…I’m not a great mathematician, but I still add 2 + 2 and get 4…Obama’s “plans” simply don’t add up.

Another way to keep people from knowing exatly “who” you are, is by voting as little as possible…very beneficial, if you’re running for office.

Wow, where are all these morons coming from. There are more here than before the election.

Mentor, it is obvious you don’t have a clue about Obama or his plans. You are only taking your cues from right wing pudits and republican talking points.

I love how the lemming conservatives are so worried about Obama spending too much, but you barely heard a word from them while Bush was racking up the largest deficit in history. The only president to have a balanced budget (actually a surplus) in the past 28 years was a democrat. So your fears are completely unfounded.

Answer #7

Wow mentor…what world do you live in? In the “land of reality” the middle class work just as hard if not harder than the rich. My husband works 70 hours a week of physical labor just so we have food on the table and a place to live in. Is that not working hard? My brother works 65 hours a week of physical labor, is that not working hard? We are the middle class…we work for everything that we have. Nothing is given to us on a silver platter we work for everything we have. My children are growing up not knowing their father because he is always at work so they can have a good life.

By the way…America did not believe a worthless pathetic liar who snow jobbed us…we believe that America doesn’t need the same man in office…again.

Answer #8
  1. Obama’s not planning to raise taxes of small businesses, unless it’s big corporations, CEOS etc
  2. Firstly, where did you get that bit of info? And secondly, the American wealthy are currently paying less income tax by percentage of their income than the middle class. Thus the wealthy are actually much better off than the middle class. Sure, we shouldnt punish the wealthy for their success, but we shouldnt punish the middle class either
  3. OK I concede to you on this one
  4. What? Tell me one way to implement change if you do not initiate it yourself through spending. On the other hand, if you are worried about how he’s going to pay for all his programs, trust me Im worried abt that as well. But I have heard him say things about withdrawing from iraq, and stopping current programs that are costing a lot right now. Which might save quite a bit of cash
Answer #9

Mentor, I am going to pretty much agree with leevan on everything, but I do have a response to number 3.

  1. If he is such a great leader why did he refuse to vote 130 times?

He has explained COUNTLESS times that in these instances, the bill was only partially what he wanted. You cannot line item veto a bill before the Senate. You either vote yes or no, you can’t pick and choose which part of the bill you pass.

He voted “present” in the instances where he supported only part of the bill. Rather than voting yes for the whole thing, or no for the whole thing, he chose to just vote “present”, to show that he was there but didn’t support the entire bill.

Example: Bill voting on partial-birth abortion ban. He supports banning partial birth abortion, unless the mother’s life is at direct risk. Since the bill had no provision for this, he voted present.

Hope that answers your question.

Oh, and for the last one…Clinton had a balanced budget, my friend. Bush is the one who exploded the government. Look in your history book.

Answer #10

Wow, you know slinging the nouns of “moron” and “pundits” is not a way to win or contribute to an argument. Out of 3 paragraphs and 9 lines, you didn’t say anything, nor offer anything to this discussion.

We’d all appreciate it if you would keep your name calling to yourself.

We’ll see how well President elect Obama does. His raising taxes on the top 5% will involve taxing the 1/2 of that 5% which are small businesses, which employee a tremendous amount of America. This being done in an economic crisis is almost irresponsible. In the past few days, we’ve seen Detroit about to implode, and other issues throughout our economy and the world. His first press conference did not indicate he has an informed grasp on what is going on. I hope the “change” rhetoric was just that campaign rhetoric. This is one politician I will forgive for not coming through on his “promises”. Because if he does, his health and tax policies will send this economy into the toilet.

He is now our President. Let us pray he absorbs the big picture.
