How to Train a dog to use the bathroom in one area outside?

I just moved into a house that has a pool and lots of side walk area. It has a patch of dirt in the back of the yard and my dogs just use the restroom right on the sidewalk! Help! Is there something I can do to help them always go to that area!

Hmmm, lifecrystal has a pretty good idea, but yea I would say do that or get a spray thing and spray it in the area you want your dogs to go to the bathroom in & it makes them want to eliminate there. I have noo idea whyy. Waiiit!! Ihave 1 more idea, you could take them out on a leash and let them walk around in the area you want them to go potty in and once they go potty in that specific area give them their most irrisistable treat & LOTS of PRAISE!!! watch him, and when he starts using the sidewalk as a bathroom, run outside, grab him and put him in the area you want. then slowly he will get that thats the area you want him to pee in. when he starts using the area you want first off, give him a treat and praise. it might take a while but it should work. thats how we trained our dog.

whta I would do is when you let your dog out to use the restroom put up a small fence in the area you want your dog to use the restroom in then when you take your dog outside put it in that area everyday for like a couple weeks to a month. but be sure not to do it every once in a while to test if your dog gets the idea or not
