How to tell my son the truth?

I asked my mom when I was about 5 and she simply told me ‘’me and your dad didn’t like each other that much, but we both care about you dearly’’. Now, I hate my dad and hope he dies, but its all good.

You’re going to have to lie for now. Why would you tell your 5 year old son,who barely knows what the real world is,that his father never wanted him? That could mess him up mentally and change him forever. Tell him when he’s around the age of 12.

When it comes time, tell him that his father was overwhelmed and couldn’t handle the responsibility. That way the fault will lie with the father (where it belongs).

‘father never wanted him’ implies a father’s rejection of the son which your son might take to mean that he (your son) is worthless - rather than the father being worthless (which he was).

does he need to know? how about if you never tell him because by telling him it could really hurt him

I have never had a father… when I was younger my mam just told me that I didn have a father because they broke up…I was young when she told me because I asked her where my dad is. you should tell him that. dont tell him the specifics until he is around 12-13. when he gets to that age tell him his father was immature and thats why he didn want you. dont just say ‘’he didn want you’’ that would be really bad

Never say directly his father didnt want him, when he’s s little older explain him that there was things out of your control, your father was scared and left because of it, that doesnt mean he didnt want you it means he thought you would be better off without him because he didnt think he could be the best daddy for you and you deserved more then that.
