How to get three year old to eat veggies?

How do I get my younger son to eat vegetables? He eats carrots (raw) sometimes but I can’t get him to eat veggies on a regular basis. Also he refuses to drink milk so I worry about the ammount of calcium he has in his diet. He is so picky with his food choices. He doesn’t try new things even if his brother (a year older than him) tries everything.

Any ideas on expanding his diet would be great.

I worked at a Day-care and we put the food on there plates and when they are picking at it and not eatings it we joke around with them and tell them not to eat it and turn our back to them and when they take a bite( Even if its a small bite its a start.)Kids love to do things they are told not to do.

Don’t call them vegetables, call them something else, and make them fun. Like why not make a vegetable pizza which will have lots of cheese (calcium) and vegetables

well having a 3 year old my self. i can tell you that its not easy. but my duaghter loves Veggies. but for those who dont i think that its best to have them try it first. at my duaghters day care they have sumthing called 3bites. every childs has to at lest take 3 bites of the veggies. it helps to at lest let them try it out. you can always do that. so that way theres some veggies that they eat.

As for nutrition, kids Ensure drink is great. It comes in chocolate, strawberry, banana and vanilla. Blend with ice and its a milkshake!. As for getting kids to try new stuff……its hard. If he does it to try to get a little attention, don’t give it to him, but rather praise his older brother. Tell the older one how proud you are that he’s trying new stuff. It will make the little one want that kind of attention too.

Try being creative with the vegetables. Use a varity of them to make faces and funny shapes. Try making vegetable soup. Some veggies taste sweeter when they are cooked. (it takes some of the nutritional value out of them but perhaps if he ate them that way he’d be more apt to eat them other ways)

My fiance’s god daughter had the same problem about when she turned 3 as well. Basically she was not allowed to have ANY candy or desert unless she ate her veggies. She cried and fussed but eventually gave in. Now they have no problems.
